A Handy New Update
Just in hopes of keeping this blog lively, I am writing a short post. So far it seems like we have the mechanics for our scarf hand nearly completed.
Player Animations so Far
I made the click sound by recording myself grabbing an object, then adding some effects in Audacity to make the clicking sound. I’ve used Unity’s animator to add in Joel’s animations. The hand is able to pick up specific objects, and drop them. We will likely be able to use this for a simple puzzle.
I’ve also added some rules to the game, like making sure the scarf is only used in one way at a time.
I’ve also programmed a small script for a crystal holder, that Shayne made, that snaps a nearby crystal into it. We plan on using this for activating platforms. I may still need to double check if I need to make any other changes.
The environment shown in the video was made by Shayne. I like the look of it so far. In this environment, we plan on having the player hop on moving leaves to reach the end of the ravine.
Right now Shayne and Noah are working on environments. Noah is currently working on a room for a boss battle. Joel is working on completing a list of things we need, which include visuals for the scarf and possibly some rooms with puzzles.
Jeff is starting to work on handling the animation states for the player.
Boss So Far
Here is what we have for the boss so far. All the animations for the boss were made by Joel. I just added them in.
I also wanted a way for the player to heal, so I asked Joel to make a heart. I added a simple script to allow the player to pick up the heart and gain 1 health point. I made the sound for the heart by recording my voice, and adding the phaser effect to it. I plan to make the hearts a random drop from enemies.
Just to make sure I give credit, the water_can_fall sound from https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/... was used and edited to make the slamming sound.
